Microsoft 365 Exchange Online – Offering the new enhanced bulk mail experience in EOP (Exchange Online Protection)

No one likes Spam and from time to time that annoying offer gets through even the most sophisticated filters. Microsoft have announced a new capability to its online Exchange mail service. According to Microsoft, “With this new capability, we are introducing a simple, intuitive control in the Exchange Admin Centre to allow you to easily block more of these “bulk” emails. For example, for Exchange Online, we were able to increase the percent of filtered emails based on these new bulk mail capabilities by another 16 percent in recent months.”

Bulk mail is another recent phenomena that can sometimes lead to annoyance. Bulk (or “grey”) email is email that falls somewhere in the middle of spectrum between junk email and good email—some users want it, others do not. Examples of bulk email include newsletters, social updates and promotions. The introduction of a new rating system, BCL Bulk Complaint Level to indicate that the bulk mail is likely to be an annoyance or something the user wants to see. These features can be enabled by a new, simple and intuitive interface in the Exchange Admin centre.
