Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is one of the three fundamental service models of cloud computing alongside Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS). IaaS is a form of cloud computing that provides virtualized computing resources over the internet.
In a business context this means replacing your physical IT infrastructure like your server and storage and replicating these systems in a hosted environment like a datacentre. In an IaaS scenario, a third-party provider hosts hardware, software, servers, storage and other infrastructure components on behalf of its users. IaaS providers also host users’ applications and handle tasks including system maintenance, backup and resiliency planning.
In common with the other two forms of cloud hosting, IaaS can be used by enterprise customers to create cost effective and easily scalable IT solutions where the complexities and expenses of managing the underlying hardware are outsourced to the cloud provider. This migration to a cloud based service has many benefits. If the scale of a business customer’s operations change, or they are looking to expand, they can tap into the cloud resource as and when they need it rather than purchase, install and integrate hardware themselves. The third party service provider looks after any licensing needs and incorporating the cost into a monthly or annual fee and their data is held in a highly secure and reliable datacentre that operates with the best IT security practices.
At Hybrid Technology Partners, we have migrated many of our customers to full or partial cloud based services. Together with our IaaS partners we can offer a complete replication of you existing IT infrastructure that saves you money and is both secure and robust.
